The coast of Tetouan, also known as Tamouda Bay, is the most exclusive holiday area in all Morocco. During summer, these 40 kilometers of beaches come alive when all the big names in business and politics from Rabat and Casablanca arrive to their luxury villas and sea-front apartments. In addition to this, international luxury tourism has been targeted by the government of Tamouda Bay, and there are 3 five-star palace hotels simultaneously under construction that will be finished between the beginning of 2015 (Sofitel Tamuda Bay Grand Luxe) and the beginning of 2016 (the Ritz-Carlton Golf & Resort and the Bayan Tree Tamuda Bay). But, why people have chosen this coast in particular? Because Tetouan’s coast has golden-sand beaches that are really calm, it’s the tranquil Mediterranean sea, and that at just a 15-minute drive from the European border. Another reason is that the urban planning has been very controlled to make sure that no big towers of apartments spoil the beautiful scenery (the maximum height allowed on this coast is 3 floors). The coast of Tetouan offers many gated residential complexes that are renowned for their beauty and security (after all, the Moroccan Royal family has chosen this coast as one of their favourite holiday retreats). Some of the most prestigious complexes are Kabila and Kabila Marina, Almina, Marina Smir, the Cabo Negro mountain and the Cabo Negro Royal Golf. On top of it, the region has two marinas and a 18-hole golf course that’s considered one of the best in Morocco (and a second 18-hole golf club is going to be delivered by 2016).
